Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

A case that I just recently made a huge difference on was a client who was charged with Driving While License Suspended. He was facing jail time of up the 364 days and a $5,000 fine. I successfully argued that The Department of Licensing (DOL) had made an error, and I was able to prove that he should not have been suspended by the DOL at all, and get the charges dropped. The client ended up with no jail time and no criminal charge at all, just a reduction to a civil infraction and a small fine.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice by giving each client individual attention by listening to them intently as well as giving solid legal advice. Paying attention to them as if they are the only client you have, knowing precisely what their goals are, and doing exactly what they want, is the key to a successful practice.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Client should look for an attorney who will give your case individual attention along with the skilled legal expertise he or she has acquired through litigation. It is important that the lawyer have experience in bringing cases through all stages inside the courts, as well as a thorough knowledge of the law on the books.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is extremely important in the courts of limited jurisdiction in which I practice. An attorney can either make or break a case depending upon the successful negotiation with the prosecutor or the argument with judge in the relevant jurisdiction. Therefore, it is imperative that the defense attorney have a working knowledge of who is assigned on the case, and what the best strategy in that jurisdiction is, in order to obtain the client's goals.
