Kirk grew-up in Cut Off, Louisiana and speaks fluent Cajun-French.  After serving as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Louisiana, Kirk attended Southern University Law School.  In 1991, Kirk finished first in his law school class.  He received American Jurisprudence Awards in five subjects and served on the Moot Court Board.  He began his association with the firm as a law clerk during law school and continued as an attorney, participating in his first jury trial three days after being sworn in as an attorney, on October 11th, 1991.

Kirk currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and has been selected as Chairman of the LTLA's Auto Torts Section for 2005-2006.
