About Laura
Prior to forming The Shelton Law Office, P.C., Ms. Shelton amassed a wide variety of valuable legal experience and training. While in law school, Ms. Shelton clerked for the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas where she evaluated trial court errors, researched case law and wrote case opinions for the judges' panel. She also clerked for the Harris County Attorney's Office where she researched issues raised by concerned citizens.
After law school, Ms. Shelton joined an insurance defense firm in Houston, Texas where she became involved in mass tort litigation taking plaintiff depositions almost daily. She also rendered insurance coverage opinions and managed a construction defect litigation docket that included a large mold contamination case defending a Fortune 500 company. Ultimately, Ms. Shelton was offered a unique opportunity to join a large New Orleans based law firm in its downtown Houston office. She spent several years there representing businesses, insurance companies and individuals in commercial/business litigation and personal injury lawsuits.
Ms. Shelton has extensive trial experience, both first and second chair, and appellate briefing and oral argument experience. She has also participated in several mediations and settlement conferences obtaining favorable settlements for her clients. Ms. Shelton has appeared before all levels of courts, both state and federal, on a variety of matters such as premise liability lawsuits, product liability lawsuits, slip and fall cases, maritime actions, patent infringements and breaches of contract. Regardless of the matter at hand, you can be assured that Ms. Shelton's diverse and extensive legal background will enable her to fulfill your ultimate legal goals.
