About LeeAnne

I was born in the Bronx where I resided with my family until I moved to North Carolina in 1998 to attend college at Wake Forest University. I received my bachelor’s degree in Education and Political Science in two and a half years, and then spent two years living and working in London, New Zealand, and Costa Rica. I am fluent in Spanish as I grew up speaking it.

I returned to North Carolina in 2002 to teach at Arts-Based Elementary School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law as a Willis Whichard Scholar. At Carolina I was actively involved in student government, the Pro Bono Board, and the Domestic Violence Advocacy Group. I received the Ilene B. Nelson Grant for Child Advocacy and the Class of 2000 Public Interest Scholarship. I was also inducted into the Frank Porter Graham Honor Society and the Order of the Barristers. I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in May, 2006.

I began working at a small general practice firm in Wilmington, North Carolina in May 2006, and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2007. I practice family law, juvenile law, and Immigration law. I also handle Department of Social Services cases. I am a member of the Family Law Sections of the American Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. I became an Associate Attorney with Hager & Associates Law Office, P.C. on April 28, 2008.

I am also the co-chair of the Criminal Justice/Paralegal Department at Miller-Motte Technical college where I teach aspiring paralegals.

My husband and I live in Wilmington. My husband is a teacher and the defensive line coach for the football team at Hoggard High School. Go Vikings! We attend St. Luke AME Zion Church.
