Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I made a big difference recently in a child custody case in which the parents were so angry they were refusing any sort of discussion with each other. Both sides hired attorneys. Opposing counsel and I sat down and calmly walked through a proposed custody agreement which worked well for everyone. We settled this one very quickly. The parents had no real dispute over what each needed; all they needed was cool heads to reason together. Another case was a consumer debt dispute in which my client, the debtor, was absolutely convinced that he did not owe the money claimed. With some investigation, I was able to show him that the creditor was correct and that he did owe the money claimed. This was a matter of just listening, gathering information, and having a civil conversation. We worked out a very favorable settlement.
