About Linda
LINDA was born in Williamson, West Virginia. She grew up in St. Albans, West Virginia, where she lived with her parents, Mike and Darlene Mamone and her three brothers. She graduated from Charleston Catholic High School in 1967.
Linda is a 1972 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor of science in pharmacy. While at West Virginia University, she was a member of the Student Legislature, Angel Flight Honorary, Chi Omega Sorority, and was employed as a resident assistant in one of the dormitories. She received the model pledge award for Angel Flight and was elected President of her Chi Omega Sorority pledge class.
In 1972 Linda married Jim Bordas and came to Wheeling. She practiced pharmacy at the Ohio Valley Medical Center and Peterson Hospital for ten years. During that time, Jim and Linda had two children, Jamie and Ben. In 1982 Linda enrolled in law school at West Virginia University. Despite having two small children, she graduated third in her class, was selected to the Order of the Coif, and served as Student Works Editor of the West Virginia Law Review. She wrote an article entitled Tort Liability of Institutional Review Boards , which was published in 87 W. Va. Law Review 137 (Fall 1984.) Linda was also elected by her classmates to serve as Vice President of her law school class. Linda and Jim formed the law firm of Bordas & Bordas in 1985 upon her graduation from law school.
Since coming to Wheeling in 1972, Linda has been a member of several organizations. She is currently on the Board of Directors of Youth Services, Inc., and the Board of Directors of the Northern Regional Juvenile Detention Facility. Linda and Jim are co-trustees of the Roy Chambers Foundation, a charitable organization that provides services and goods to children with needs in Ohio County. She also serves on the Parents as Teachers Board at Ritchie School and is a member of the Marshall County Animal Rescue League. Linda is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Wheeling.
Linda attends St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Wheeling where she has served as both a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector.
Linda is a member of the West Virginia Association for Justice. She is a member of the Board of Governors of that organization and has been past member of the executive committee. She is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Linda has lectured in the areas of medical malpractice and trial practice in general.
Linda has represented seriously injured clients in various areas of law. Her pharmacy background has lent itself to the practice of medical negligence. She has obtained trial verdicts and settlements in such diverse medical fields as orthopaedic surgery, internal medicine, surgery, radiation oncology, pediatrics, cardiology, and cancer treatment.
Linda's mission as a litigator is not only to do justice for her seriously injured clients, but also to make West Virginia and Ohio a safer place by holding physicians and hospitals to accepted standards of professional practice.
