Lorin Zaner has been a licensed attorney in Ohio and Michigan since 1976. His undergraduate degree was in chemical engineering and this scientific background has been invaluable to him in his practice, particularly in cases which require a scientific approach.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I tried a rape case where the defendant's previous attorney tried to have him plead to a felony. The verdict was not guilty. I had a multimillion dollar divorce case which I settled, saving my client a substantial sum of money.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built a successful practice by working hard, learning the facts and circumstances of each case, spending time to learn the science where necessary, and achieving favorable results for my clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone who is willing to listen and understand the life alternating effects of what the client is going through. Also you should consider the attorney's success and ability to communicate.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge can be helpful but it is not necessary a major factor to achieving success. I have gone to numerous courts in Ohio and Michigan where I do not regularly practice and have achieved good results for my clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I can do a quick evaluation and give some insight as to what the next steps need to be.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
A little bit of information on the case, what it is about, where it stands,etc. I like to meet with clients face to face to make sure we are compatible with each other and get into more detailed information.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I believe I work harder than most attorneys in our area. I have spent hundreds of hours learning the science in cases e.g. shaken baby and false allegations of abuse and have lectured on these cases around the country to assist lawyers and other professionals.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Knowing that I have saved someone's life. It is an awesome responsibility representing clients to help them get through their legal issues, be it criminal, domestic, and automobile accident or other type of situations.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy music, having played in the Air National Guard Band for 20 years, golf and travelling.
Are you involved in your community?
I have been on Boards, volunteering my time, free of charge.
