LOUIS MICHAEL BELL received an A.B. cum laude in English in 1966 and a PH.D. in Comparative Literature in 1975, both from Princeton University. After teaching briefly at the University of Iowa, Louis earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1978. From his apprenticeship at Mayer, Brown and Platt and later at Wilson & McIlvaine, he has worked the last 18 years on almost every kind of financing imaginable, as well as a wide variety of other corporate and commercial transactions, including more than $2,000,000,000 of public and private debt transactions in which Louis has represented lending institutions, underwriters, municipalities and other private and public, charitable, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, private placements, simple stock transactions, public offerings and many other securities matters. He has also handled a variety of corporate, non-profit and other commercial transactions and negotiations for small investors and businesses as well as for large public companies and institutions.
