About Mara

Mara C. Spring, owner of Spring Law, S.C., graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1998 after obtaining her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. After graduating, she immediately ran for public office and became the elected District Attorney for Taylor County, Wisconsin. She was the only attorney in the office for two terms (four years), and prosecuted everything from speeding tickets to homicide. During that time she handled over 60 jury trials, including a murder prosecution later featured on the hit T.V. series SNAPPED! Since leaving the District Attorney’s office in 2003, she has been in private practice. For over ten years she worked as an associate with Godfrey, Leibsle, Blackbourn & Howarth, S.C., in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where she was a part of the business/corporate department. Her role there involved drafting operating agreements, buy/sell agreements, and other documents for small businesses, and handling litigation for the business/corporate department, including contract disputes, collection matters, lien enforcement, and partnership disputes. With the other members of the department, she taught seminars regarding the life cycle of a business, including startup, intellectual property, employment issues, and retirement planning. She also assisted the real estate department with litigation, including property line disputes, misrepresentation claims regarding property condition, foreclosure prosecution and defense, and landlord/tenant matters. Mara has represented numerous construction contractors and taught seminars in construction law and business practices at the Lakeland Builders’ Association in Elkhorn, WI. After leaving the Godfrey Firm, Mara was a partner with Wassel, Harvey & Schuk, LLP until that firm dissolved in 2017.  Mara received her Masters’ Degree in Dispute Resolution from Marquette University in 2017. She is a member of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators and the Association for Conflict Resolution. Mara is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the Walworth, Waukesha, and Milwaukee County Bar Associations. She is licensed to practice before the federal courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Northern District of Illinois. Mara’s practice concentrates on family law,  mediation, business transactions, business litigation, real estate litigation, creditor’s rights, and construction law. She lives in Muskego, Wisconsin with her husband and three children.
