Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In 2020 a client was seriously injured in a motor vehicle collision caused by a high speed chase involving an uninsured fleeing criminal and the Colorado State Patrol. The State denied liability. I analyzed the trooper's dashcam video and was able to convince the Attorney General that the trooper was partly to blame. I was able to obtain a settlement of $450,000.

How did you build a successful practice?

I began a TV advertising campaign in the 1980's which was so successful that my partner and I had to hire seven associates and staff to handle the work.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients need to look not only for a history of success and knowledge of the law, but indicators which lead the client to trust and have faith that the attorney believes wholeheartedly in the client's claim and will vigorously pursue the best possible outcome for the client.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Very important. Every judge in every jurisdiction has unique and individual ways in which they run their courtrooms; from initial case management orders to jury selection, to how they permit evidence to be admitted, and tendencies as to how they rule on various issues. Knowing the local demographics is essential in gauging how juries will view certain issues and how they will value cases.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I advise the client as to whether the client's matter is of a type that I handle; whether it appears that the injury causing event has occurred within the applicable statue of limitations; provide information regarding my fee structure; the process that we follow once a client retains the Firm; the general time frame within which to expect certain events to occur; and whether the described incident is one that we would be interested in handling.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

I need to know the date of the incident; what occurred; who all was involved; if there was a police report; whether anyone was charged with causing the event; the general nature and extent of injuries and medical treatment received; the age(s) of potential client(s); the type of vehicles and extent of vehicle damage, if it involves a motor vehicle collision; and whether the parties had insurance.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

The nature and extent of my work and experience around the country and the world.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping the client to work through a challenging, stressful event in their life and obtain an outcome which places the client in the best possible position to continue with their life.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My church, family, sailing, hiking, and my dogs.

Are you involved in your community?

I support a number of organizations within the community, involving veteran's groups and families experiencing financial hardship and homelessness.
