About Mark
Mark is a Central Wisconsin native, growing up in Medford and graduating from high school there in 1978. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1982. Mark then attended law school at UW Madison, graduating with a Juris Doctor degree in 1985. Following law school, Mark returned to Central Wisconsin as an associate trial attorney with Rogers & Bremer in Merrill, where he litigated plaintiff's personal injury cases for three years.
Mark then joined Terwilliger, Wakeen, Piehler & Conway, S.C. of Wausau in 1988, representing clients in a wide variety of civil litigation, including both defense and plaintiff cases. He became a shareholder at the firm in 1992, and continued his active trial and appellate practice. In 1998, Mark and two of his law partners Randy Sandfort and Dick Zalewski left to start their own firm (Sandfort, Zalewski & Klinner, LLP). Joined by John Kramer in 2001, the law firm continues today as Zalewski, Klinner & Kramer, LLP, with a state-wide litigation practice.
At Zalewski, Klinner & Kramer, LLP, Mark primarily defends insurance companies and their policy holders in a variety of civil litigation, with an emphasis on negligence actions and tort-based claims. Those insureds include individuals, businesses and municipalities. Mark also routinely handles selected plaintiff's cases, primarily personal injury claims. Over his 20-plus year legal career, Mark has successfully represented clients at the trial court and appellate levels throughout Wisconsin. He has tried 40 jury trials to verdict in personal injury cases alone (both plaintiff and defense). Mark is a board-certified civil trial advocate, who also actively represents clients in mediations, arbitrations and various administrative proceedings.
