Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I recently represented the mother of a three year old boy who was slightly injured in a car wreck in a rural area. A life flight helicopter company responded and the EMT attempted an intubation on this little boy. First, there was absolutely no need for an intubation tube to be placed. Second, and tragically, the EMT placed the intubation tube into the boy's stomach which causes this young boy to slowly die from lack of oxygen. Through relentless discovery methods which included state of the art computer forensics and private investigations, we were able to prove that the EMT was a meth user and unable to appreciate the very technical aspects of the intubation process, that he had a crush on his coworker in the helicopter and was ""showing off"" by doing an unnecessary procedure, that the company knew their employee was the cause of this little boy's death and blatantly changed his medical records in a massive coverup.
How did you build a successful practice?
I have built my successful practice over 21 years of very hard work. I work 12-14 hours a day during the week and throughout every weekend. I am constantly available to my clients and answer every client email before I go to sleep at night.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
When choosing a lawyer, clients should look for two things: knowledge and compassion. The lawyer must possess extensive experience and a deep knowledge base of the particular type of case you have. And he/she must have compassion. Most people that come to my office are facing some form of tragedy in their lives. Compassion for them and their families is a must.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge and familiarity is definitely important for lawyers who try cases to juries. All jurors are local and I believe they relate better to a lawyer that understands their area, their state, and the nuances that make them unique.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
In a free phone consultation we are available to answer any and all questions a prospective client may have. We can also offer immediate advice that can be critically important at the start of a case when clients are being called or questioned by insurance companies or doctors or investigators hired by big companies.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
In an initial phone call we just need whatever information the client has at the time. There is no need to wait and ""gather information"" before calling us. The sooner we are involved the sooner we can begin to use the law in your favor to preserve vital evidence.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I think the biggest thing the differentiates my form from others is our compassion. Yes, we have a unique set of skills after two decades of focusing on very specific areas of the law, but it is our genuine compassion for our clients and their families that makes the difference. Our clients truly become part of our family for the rest of their lives.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is something beyond just helping my clients directly. In all of the medical malpractice cases out Law Firm prosecutes, in addition to a money settlement, we demand that the health care provider change their policies or procedures in that particular area related to our case. This ensures that the next person that is treated will not suffer the same fate as my client did. Making a difference in hundreds and thousands of lives is the most rewarding thing I can ever do.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I am a person who loves learning and seeing new things. So, my biggest hobby is traveling. I have been very fortunate and been able to travel to dozens of countries in the last 10-15 years. I have found by studying history, not just in American, but across the world, that I am better able to understand humanity as a whole. On a much lighter note, I love college football!
Are you involved in your community?
My firm is dedicated to supporting a wide range of charities, both local and nationally. Every year we donate time and money to local food banks, schools, and legal aid. Nationally we support the American Red Cross, Special Olympics, St Jude, The Ronald McDonald House, and many others
