NBI DISCOVERY AND EVIDENCE TIPS FOR THE PLAINTIFF ATTORNEY
2015
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
There are really too many to pick just one. I think the lawyer's job is to help where he/she can and let the client have the lime light. We get enough exposure.
How did you build a successful practice?
By spending time listening to clients talk about their goals and shaping their cases to meet them. Most people just want to be heard and then have their concerns addressed with solutions clearly explained. That's what I strive to do with every client.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty, a genuine interest in the case, and the ability to explain complex topics in ways that people truly understand.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is the biggest deciding factor in most law cases. Knowing how the judges react to arguments is crucial. It\'s why I\\\'ve been successful for over 40 years in this area.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Most anything the client asks is fair game for our conversation. We prefer a face-to-face meetings so clients can see what they\'re buying and develop a trusting relationship with their lawyer.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The basics: who, what, where, when, and how are great places to start the conversation.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Experience in every situation. The work it takes to teach people first about the law and then get their decisions. Sound decision-making with the client knowing not just what is decided but why I decided to tackle their problems in the way I did.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I think it\'s the trust clients show by bringing me their family and friends as new clients. I\'m now representing three generations in some families and it\'s really gratifying to see that kind of devotion to what I am doing.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I like to travel to sporting events, travel with my wife and present my opinons on topics of the day.
Are you involved in your community?
I try to be. I coached all levels of football, baseball, and basketball for many years. I also speak at lawyer seminars and help local citizen boards with complex legal issues.
