About Mary
I have been practicing in Atlanta for more than thirty years. In the first third of my career I worked for a sophisticated litigation boutique. I wrote a brief to the United States Supreme Court about the first amendment. I represented Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Frito Lay, PepsiCo, and Bank of America.
In the second third of my career I worked as an employment attorney for Delta Air Lines, Inc. I defended discrimination and wage/ hour cases. As an in house attorney I obtained insight into the inside decision making process of an employer on critical issues such as firing and disciplining employees and when to settle litigation.
In the final third of my career I practice employment law on the side of the employee. Working for for Delta gave me insights into employer decision making that other attorneys do not have. Representing employees melds my experience as a trial lawyer with my compassionate nature. I help my clients be prudent about what they spend.
I believe that spending time with clients is the only way to develop trust and understand each client's problem. I believe the "old fashioned" attributes of intelligence, skillful writing, effective and authoritive speaking, and experience make the best representation possible.
Two cases of mine stand out: one where a college professor sued for tenure denial and won and one where multiple female servers sued a five star restaurant for sexual harassment and won. I represented the Plaintiff (s) in each. I did all the work, including arguing and briefing a Federal court appeal, myself.
I have been named Best in Atlanta twice in protecting employee rights. Once was by CNN.
