About Matthew
Mr. Dineen is Counsel in the Commercial Litigation Department. He has 25 years experience as a litigator in New York, New Jersey and other states, practicing in both state and federal courts, principally in the areas of insurance coverage, mass torts, and intellectual property. Matt handles all aspects of pre-trial preparation, expert and other discovery, pre-trial motion practice, trials, and appeals.
Mr. Dineen has had extensive experience representing a wide array of industries and clients in a variety of litigation and counseling matters. In the insurance area, Matt has represented insurers in complex coverage disputes arising from many types of claims including environmental, asbestos, and other toxic exposures, product liability, and directs and officers' liability.
Among other things, as co-counsel for lead insurers he successfully tried the longest civil trial to verdict in Delaware history. In the area of products liability, Mr. Dineen has successfully represented clients in the manufacturing and contracting industries whose claims arose from asbestos and other toxic chemical exposures, as well as more traditional product design, manufacturing, and warning claims.
And in the intellectual property area, Mr. Dineen has won trademark cases for companies and other organizations involved in the arts, manufacturing, magazine publishing, clothing design, and software design and licensing.
Mr. Dineen received his B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1978 with honors and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. He is admitted to practice law in the state of New York, Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department, the U.S. District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Regis High School Bar Association.
