About Maureen
Maureen Crane graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1998, cum laude. She also holds a B.A. and Master's degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University. Prior to joining Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers & Golden in December of 2004, Maureen represented employees in her private practice, and was formerly employed as an associate attorney with Detroit firms, Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn, LLP and Dickinson Wright PLLC. At these firms, Maureen represented management clients and with this, gained a reservoir of invaluable experience.
Since joining PMPRG Maureen has continued her work in the field of employment discrimination by representing employees who benefit from her comprehensive perspective and unique background. She also works with the American Civil Liberties Union and is currently working with them on a group case of unreasonable search and seizure involving victims who were strip searched.
Through her hard work, Maureen has earned the following recognition. In 2001, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association honored her with its Pro Bono Excellence Award. During law school, she received the 1996 David Martin Memorial Award for Excellence in Torts, along with a writing award and top ten oralists placement on moot court. She was also granted a law internship with the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.
Maureen has made many contributions in the area of research and writing. In 1999, she co-authored The Law of Workplace Harassment, Employment Litigation in Michigan, June 1999, Institute of Continuing Legal Education. In 2000, she was acknowledged for her contribution as a research assistant to Professor Robert A. Sedler in his publication, Choice of Law in Conflicts Torts Cases: A Third Restatement or Rules of Choice of Law? In 2001 she co-authored and co-presented the article, Workplace Privacy: Balancing an Employee's Right to Privacy with an Employer's Legitimate Need to Know through Lorman Education Services. Maureen was also a contributing co-author on the chapter on Summary Judgment in the book Age Discrimination in Employment by Barbara Lindemann and David A. Kadue, BNA Books (2003).
