Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
This year, I won a not guilty verdict in a Homicide case for my client in front of an Erie County jury. My client had to admit that he had been in possession of drugs and a gun at the time of the shooting incident, but we were successful on the most important issue, and he was found not guilty of Homicide and Aggravated Assault because I was able to prove he acted in self defense. I have also had various successful results in Federal Court where the sentences which my client received were significantly less than the Federal Sentencing Guidelines called for, or that the prosecution requested.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built a successful practice by hard work, being candid with clients and earning the respect of the court system throughout northwestern Pennsylvania. Clients should look for a lawyer who will be candid with them and offer an objective assessment as to the strengths and weaknesses of each of their cases. That lawyer should be able to draw upon his experience, his knowledge of the law as well as his common sense to obtain the most realistically positive outcome for each client.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
I have been in practice for 33 years and have handled almost every type of criminal case and a multitude of civil cases throughout northwestern Pennsylvania as well as in Federal Courts in both Michigan and throughout the Federal Court system in Pennsylvania. I have represented many good people over the years and helped them get through difficult and stressful legal situations. I try to remember how difficult it would be to be in that type of stressful situation, and I do everything I can to get them the best result possible.
Are you involved in your community?
I was born and raised in Erie, and always wanted to practice law here. I have been involved with charitable organizations and fundraising events. I have coached boys baseball, managed a U19 Girls Travel Hockey team and have assisted in a multitude of community projects throughout northwestern Pennsylvania.
