After graduating from the University of North Carolina Law School with honors, Joel spent two years as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit – one year as a staff attorney and one year as a clerk to the Honorable William B. Traxler, Jr. Joel has since spent his entire career helping clients who faced civil litigation in a wide range of practice areas. During that time, Joel has helped a broad spectrum of clients - from individuals to companies in the manufacturing, communications, healthcare, and financial services industries, just to name a few. In addition to his experience in the trial courts, Joel has helped numerous clients in the appellate courts. Viral Mehta has called Charlotte his home for over 30 years. He attended and graduated from Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools. He then graduated from nearby Davidson College with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Mr. Mehta obtained his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and then returned home to Charlotte to begin his legal practice. Mr. Mehta spent the first decade of his legal career defending employers and large insurance companies in workers’ compensation claims. Mr. Mehta developed expertise in workers’ compensation law, but he felt a lack of fulfillment in representing insurance companies against injured workers. Mr. Mehta began representing injured workers when he founded the workers’ compensation practice group at a local law firm. Mr. Mehta then co-founded Mehta & McConnell PLLC. Mr. Mehta’s previous experience representing insurance companies gave him the insight necessary to effectively represent injured workers. He knows how insurance companies and adjusters handle workers’ compensation claims. Mr. Mehta is a North Carolina State Bar board-certified specialist in workers’ compensation law. He has obtained favorable decisions before all levels of the North Carolina Industrial Commission, Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court. Viral Mehta was a contributing author of the 2017 edition of the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation LexisNexis Practice Guide, and he was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Mr. Mehta is certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Superior Court mediator. He enjoys mediating cases, especially workers’ compensation claims. In addition to practicing workers’ compensation law, Mr. Mehta also handles personal injury cases. Mr. Mehta is married with one son and a dog named Alfred. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, sports, and reading.

C. Randy Emory was born and raised in the small, rural town of Wilson NC. Throughout his childhood, Mr. Emory displayed many leadership qualities. In High School, Randy was President of the Student Body, also finding time to excel and letter in three sports. Ultimately, Mr. Emory decided to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his collegiate studies. While there, he continued his involvement in student government, serving on a multitude of committees. Randy also mentored children in the Big Brother Big Sister Program. He is a very proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. After graduating from UNC in 1985, Mr. Emory enrolled in law school at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. While in his studies, he also interned with State Farm Insurance company. There he was able to really grasp how Insurance Companies handled their many claims that they received on a daily basis. After completing Law School, Randy worked in the claims department at State Farm Insurance for three years. While there, he handled over three thousand auto claims, gaining valuable knowledge. In 1991, Mr. Emory was able to transfer that knowledge to an established personal injury firm in Charlotte where he worked for ten years. In 2001, Randy started the Emory Law Firm, and it has been successfully operating ever since. He has handled over 16,000 auto claims during his career. Randy remains a very active member in his community, having served as Vice Chairman of the Citizen Review Board for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. He also has taken the responsibility of helping at risk youth in his area. Mr. Emory is also a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He currently resides with his wife Tammy and two boys.​

Andrew was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and moved to Charlotte in 2010 to pursue his legal education. Having grown up with 8 siblings and step-siblings, Andrew has been preparing to be a litigator his entire life. ​ He attended SUNY Cortland for his undergraduate studies where he majored in Political Science. He went on to law school shortly after where he completed his graduation requirements in two and a half years; a full semester early. While in law school, Andrew was inducted into the Order of the Crown academic honor society, served as the president of the LGBT Legal Society, and received pro bono highest honors for his volunteer work during law school. Andrew also completed two internships with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office and the Iredell District Attorney’s office, serving as lead counsel on multiple criminal trials.

Attorney Charles Ali Everage has more than 20 years of experience as a civil litigator. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, he was admitted to practice in Alabama in 1998 before relocating to Charlotte in 2003. Herbert W. Auger, Esq., started his career as an attorney with a large law firm that represented personal injury victims. The firm represented auto, bus, motorcycle and trucking accident victims. It also provided assistance with medical malpractice cases; premises liability claims; and workers’ compensation claims arising from construction accidents and other on-the-job injuries.
