About Michael

Mr. Bloom has over 30 years experience in all areas of criminal defense. He has defended individuals in both state and federal court. He has tried over a dozen jury trials involving allegations of first-degree murder, and numerous sex offense allegations. He has defended some of the most complex narcotics prosecutions in Southern Arizona. Mr. Bloom's work as a trial lawyer also involves selected civil cases.

Mr. Bloom served for several years as a defense representative to the State Bar Committee on Criminal Justice and on the State Bar Ethics Committee.

For the past twenty years, Mr. Bloom has served as the co-host of the annual seminar on DUI defense presented by the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice, a statewide criminal defense organization. Mr. Bloom has lectured every year at the seminars. Many of the legal challenges that he has pioneered have been featured at these seminars. Mr. Bloom has also spoken at the Governor's Office of Highway Safety seminars to Judges on DUI issues. He has hosted or spoken at numerous seminars presented by the Arizona Bar on criminal defense issues.

Mr. Bloom has handled many of the most high profile vehicular homicide prosecutions in the State of Arizona. He has frequently spoken on news programs to educate the public on DUI issues. For several years, he has served as a defense representative to the Arizona State Legislature, attempting to rein in the Draconian measures advocated by MADD. Through his efforts, the right to a jury trial is guaranteed to those charged with DUI in Arizona.

Mr. Bloom is a graduate of the University of Illinois (1971) and Loyola University, School of Law (1976). He served as a Pima County Public Defender from 1977 to 1983, and has been in private practice since 1983.
