About Michael
Michael A. Jacobus, a partner in the firm, was born in Toms River, New Jersey in 1972. A life long resident of Toms River, he is honored to work with the community in which he was raised.
Following graduation from Toms River High School North in 1990, Michael attended the University of Delaware, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1994. In addition to his academics, Michael was a varsity member of the university crew team. In the summer months, he returned as a member of the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol.
Thereafter, Michael embarked on his law school education, receiving his Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law in 1998. While at Widener, Michael was a judicial intern for the Honorable Albert J. Garofolo, J.S.C. (presiding) as well as a clinical intern for the Widener Environmental Law Clinic.
Michael began working with Novins, York, Pagano, Jacobus & Seems following graduation, and was admitted to both the New Jersey Bar and United States District Court, District of New Jersey.
Michael's practice includes estate litigation, estate planning, elder law, real estate, business and corporate transactions, personal injury, and general litigation. Michael has also qualified and been appointed to the statewide roster of mediators pursuant to Court Rule 1:40 as a qualified mediator for Civil, General Equity and Probate cases, and is also a member of the Guardianship Association of New Jersey. An active participant in the local community, Michael is a member of the Ocean County Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Young Lawyer's Division, volunteer and head coach for the Toms River Youth Soccer Club, and has also worked with the "Team in Training" leukemia and lymphoma society.
A resident of Toms River, Michael and his wife Dawn have two children.
