Cases

VALLE V. ALPHA CONSTRUCTION CO

Plaintiff: Attorney for the plaintiff, Kyle Valle. The plaintiff was an employee of the defendant, Alpha Construction Company, which is insured by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. The plaintiff was injured while working and filed a workers' compensation claim which was denied. At issue is whether or not the plaintiff sustained a compensate injury, whether the defendants are liable for benefits and who specifically was the employer of the plaintiff at the time of injury. The courts ruled that the plaintiff did sustain a compensate injury by accident. They also ruled that he was employed by Alpha Construction Company. It was also determined that the plaintiff remained disabled at the time of hearing and was entitled to workers' compensation benefits. The ruling was passed in favor of the plaintiff.

State of North Carolina v. Datina Ingram

Defendant was charged with violating the terms of her probation and was found to be in contempt of court. Upon review, the Court of Appeals found that Defendant had not violated the terms of her probation, and, therefore, she was not in contempt of court. The Court of Appeals overturned the judgment of the Trial Court.
