Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I defended a client in a California Proposition 65 cause of action. The client did not want to settle. I was able to get the case dismissed through procedural motions.
How did you build a successful practice?
By being honest with my clients. I ask my clients up front what their expectations are. I then give them an honest answer about what they can expect to achieve. I will not take their money and give them a false promise.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Integrity. Someone that can represent them in many different aspects of the law, so the client can build a relationship and know that they can trust the lawyer to represent them no matter the legal problem. Kind of like the family doctor.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is important to know your clients' needs. For instance, a custom that seems normal for the local client may seem odd and need explaining to an outsider. Not explaining could have a big outcome on your clients case.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I try and let the potential client know what the law says, what they can expect good or bad although stress that nothing is a sure thing when going before judge and jury, and the fees to achieve those results.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The legal issue and what the potential client expects from my services.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I truly want to help. I try and never turn anyone away. I want to be someone that they can trust and stop in to say hello and have a cup of coffee with. I want to know the people in the community as people, and not just as a client.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Getting the results that was expected. Helping someone that was scared and giving them their life back.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
God and Nature. I love to camp and see the wonderful places that God has created.
Are you involved in your community?
I try. I just opened my office here and I will get more involved. I have lived in the community and been involved with church. However, now that I am not commuting 4 hours a day, I will have more time and plan to get more involved.
