Located in Oklahoma City, Mike Rose's practice is focused debtor representation in consumer and business bankruptcy cases, bankruptcy litigation and appeals, and litigation involving Federal and State consumer protection laws such as the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act. Mr. Rose has been practicing law since 1994, after graduating with honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He has developed a reputation for handling complex bankruptcy and consumer protection issues at trial and on appeal. Mr. Rose has often been a featured speaker at legal education seminars hosted by the Oklahoma Bar Association, Cleveland County Bar Association, and Oklahoma County Bankruptcy Bar Association. Mr. Rose is a regular guest on Oklahoma City radio station KVSP and authored The Role of Non-Bankruptcy Consumer Remedies in Insolvency Cases, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees Quarterly, July, 1997, Vol.9, No.4. Published opinions include Household Bank, N.A. v. Sales, 228 B.R. 748 (10th Cir. BAP 1999) and In Re Younger, 216 B.R. 649 (W.D.Okla. 1998).
Mr. Rose takes a multi-solution approach when dealing with a client's financial problems. He examines each client's case with an eye toward finding relief under a number of different consumer protection laws. In other words, a client who contacts Mr. Rose regarding bankruptcy needs will also receive advice on possible creditor violations involving home equity lending, collection laws, and other abusive lending tactics.
The most common consumer protection sought today is bankruptcy, either in Chapter 7 (liquidation) or Chapter 13 (reorganization) of the Bankruptcy Code. Bankruptcy laws are powerful, but they can be even more powerful when combined with other consumer protection laws. Moreover, bankruptcy laws change often, and keeping up with those changes is necessary for an attorney to adequately represent his client.
