About Michele

Law is a calling for Ms. Sims and not just a career. Ms. Sims has a great desire to teach others and ensure access to justice for everyone. As an Assistant Public Defender Ms. Sims represented some of the poorest people in this country; and saw many who could not afford to hire an attorney turned away because of the strict financial qualifying guidelines. So many fell between the cracks and without representation or the ability/knowledge to represent themselves did not get a true opportunity for justice. She saw the struggles they faced everyday and how their legal troubles further placed the American Dreamout of their reach. Ms. Sims seeks/decided to bridge this gap by providing training to the public to help them represent themselves in court. That is why Ms. Sims determined to not only provide one on one legal coaching services (at prices well below standard attorney fees), but also determined to design and implement a cutting edge seminar to provide legal coaching services to groups. Knowledge is power.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I had a DUI case in which my client tested over the legal limit more than three hours after being arrested. The client was pulled over on the side of the road when the police approached her, but she admitted to driving. The Assistant Solicitor wouldn't even negotiate a plea deal with me. The case went to trial and even though evidence was admitted that my client blew over .08 I was able to get a not guilty verdict on all counts.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone who right from the beginning will listen to them; if an attorney doesn't listen to you while trying to earn your business how much will they listen to you once they have your business?

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Basic information concerning the nature of the charges such as what the State has to prove to make its case, possible defenses, and sentencing ranges for the charges.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

For criminal cases I need the pending charges, date of arrests, names of any co-defendants, and a brief description of events leading up to the arrest. For social security disability cases I need the nature of claimed disability, date of onset, work history, and information concerning any steps they have already taken to get benefits.

Are you involved in your community?

I am very involved in the church and believe strongly in community service. I especially like to work with/support organizations that work with children.
