About Michelle
A lifelong resident of West Virginia, lead attorney Michelle Widmer-Eby has been assisting West Virginia families in crisis since receiving her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1983. Over the last 25 years Michelle has aggressively represented hundreds of clients in various legal matters. Michelle is a noted family law attorney who concentrates on complex domestic issues such as divorce, child custody, child relocation, jurisdictional custody disputes, alimony, child support, and the division of marital assets. Aside from being a well recognized, respected, and experienced family law attorney, Michelle represents clients in numerous other types of cases as well. Other practice areas include personal injury cases involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall injuries, wrongful death cases, construction disputes, debt collection, and dog bite injuries.
Although her practice is centered in Morgantown, West Virginia, Michelle has helped people throughout the state in counties such as Barbour, Brooke, Hancock, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Marshall, Ohio, Preston, Taylor, Wetzel and Wood. Further, she has consistently represented people throughout the state not only in Morgantown, but also in the cities of: Buckhannon, Clarksburg, Elkins, Fairmont, Grafton, Hundred, Kingwood, Moundsville, Parkersburg, Weirton, and Wheeling. has successfully argued before the West Virginia Supreme Court on numerous occasions and lectured at may continuing legal education seminars on the issues of drafting parenting plans and collection of alimony and child support arrearages.
Michelle factors common sense into her law practice and attempts to negotiate a fair resolution of your issues before going to trial in order to save you time and money. However, if litigation is required, Michelle is prepared. Michelle is a seasoned litigator who has argued on several occasions in front of the West Virginia Supreme Court. Her aggressive style in the courtroom coupled with her compassion for her clients has proved successful in getting the job done.
Aside from her law practice, Michelle has worked as a Child Advocate Attorney for the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement. She has also helped other attorneys better understand the nuances of family law by teaching several classes on topics such as child support collection methods. In addition Michelle has served as the President of the Monongalia County Bar Association.
