My journey to becoming a lawyer has provided me with the skills to challenge and overcome barriers. I grew up in a military family, which strengthened my ability to adapt and negotiate as I moved from state to state. While finding myself through all of that, I was lucky enough to find and develop a love of skateboarding at a young age. It gave me a Tabula Rasa feeling even before I knew what that was. I owe my level of persistence and determination to that sport. It taught me to never give up and to always give it "one more try". When I'm not skateboarding, you can find me in the kitchen trying to recreate my favorite meal in this world, dhalpuri and curry duck. Cooking has taught me a lot about patience and attention to detail. Before attending Willamette College of Law, I attended the University of Denver where I received a Master of Science degree, and Indiana University where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree. I believe that the system is not fair. Systemic issues, biased social-cultural structures, and inequality of access to resources contribute to most legal issues. My role as a lawyer is to support my client in overcoming such barriers, especially in the context of criminal defense. During law school I concentrated my efforts on drug reform, ultimately becoming Vice Chairman of Willamette's Law Students for Sensible Drug Policy chapter. During that time our group was able to successfully lobby for social equity and help create House Bill 4088, as well as lobby for what became Ballot Measure 109. Now that I am no longer in school, my focus has shifted to criminal defense trial work.

DWI/DUII is a serious crime and when arrested for this crime, it can be difficult to fight the charges. The arresting officer will perform field sobriety tests to determine if you are drunk and, if he or she decides that you are, then you will be handcuffed and taken to jail. If you refuse the field sobriety tests, you will still be taken to jail for further testing. You will be fingerprinted, photographed, and asked to submit to chemical testing for the presence of alcohol and/or controlled substances. You do, however, have the option to contact an attorney first, and I'm available for you 24 hours when youโve been arrested for DWI/DUII. The reason why that first phone call should be to your lawyer is because you do not want to say anything to the police that could be used against you in court. Even the smallest statement could be twisted into something you did not mean. In other words, anything can be taken out of context in order to prove your guilt. The decision to submit to testing also has numerous implications either way. Even if you have already made it home, I can help you. Seek immediate consultation by filling out the form to the right or calling my office at 612-227-3229. I can help.

I graduated from law school with the goal of working in criminal defense. For approximately the first four years of my practice, I accepted privately retained and court-appointed criminal defense cases and gained valuable trial experience. After I was rear-ended three times in one year and suffered compounded whiplash, I became interested in personal injury law. Since then, I have expanded my practice into include a combination of criminal and general civil litigation including auto accidents, dog bites, premises liability, product liability, police misconduct, expungements, stalking/restraining orders. I offer a free phone consultation for personal injury clients only. For landlord tenant cases, we must first do a conflicts check, then my initial consultation rate is $200.00 which is a reduction of our normal $300.00 hourly rate. If you are a tenant, I sometimes offer a contingency fee rate after the initial consultation.
