About Patrick

Patrick J. Fleis is a partner and shareholder of Ryan, Kromholz & Manion, S.C. The firm, which traces its roots back to 1873, was formed in 1998 and practices in all areas of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition law and related litigation. Patrick is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Patrick received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and received his law degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  While attending Marquette University Law School, Patrick was involved in the Marquette Intellectual Property Law Review; one year as a member and one year as Managing Editor of the Law Review.  His article, “Stemming the Stem Cell Setback,” won the initial Frank Deguire award for the best student-written intellectual property article in 2003.

Patrick primarily represents medical equipment companies, particularly start-up companies, as well as representing clients in the refrigeration industries.

He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Lawyers Association.

Prior to attending law school, and after graduating from the University of Michigan School of Engineering, Patrick was a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1997-1999 in the West African nation of Ghana, where he further developed his analytical skills by teaching high school level mathematics and science, including chemistry, physics, and calculus.

Patrick lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife Kristine and their two children.
