About Paul
Hon. Paul T. Koenig, Jr. (Ret.)
Paul T. "Pete" Koenig Jr. joined Szaferman Lakind as Counsel in April, 2008, after his retirement as Presiding Judge Superior Court, Civil Division earlier in 2008. In addition to his general litigation practice, Pete has established an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice for the firm. He also provides consultations on trial matters, tactics and strategies.
During his tenure as a Superior Court Judge, Pete held assignments in Family Court, as well as in the Criminal Division. Most of his career as a Superior Court Judge was spent in the Civil Division of the Court. He was appointed Presiding Judge Civil in 2005.
Pete served as Mercer County Prosecutor during the Kean administration, and was appointed Mercer County Counsel by County Executive Bill Mathesius. His public service also includes acting as Hopewell's Municipal Prosecutor, and as an Assistant Mercer County Prosecutor. Additionally, Pete was in private practice for over 10 years.
In his ADR practice, Pete concentrates on the mediation and arbitration of cases involving complex commercial litigation, automobile negligence, personal injury, contracts, real estate, construction, insurance coverage, and employment law. Pete's ADR clients have the benefit of his extensive trial experience as an attorney, prosecutor and Judge and his practical approach to resolving difficult cases prior to trial.
