About Paul
PAUL J. VIRGO is an attorney in Los Angeles where he is Of Counsel to the Century Law Group. His sole practice is in the defense of attorneys in regulatory and licensure proceedings and civil actions. He counsels and advises attorneys on preventative measures to avoid ethical problems and complaints to the Bar, as well as providing expert witness and consulting services.
Mr. Virgo recently retired from the State Bar of California after 25 years of service, the last 12 of which as an Assistant Chief Trial Counsel.
Mr. Virgo is an adjunct professor of law in professional responsibility at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law and Concord Law School. He is a frequent lecturer on legal ethics and professional responsibility before numerous organizations, associations and committees. He presently serves as ethics counsel to the Office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender, and is the author of many articles on the subject of attorney ethics, lawyer discipline, and substance abuse.
Mr. Virgo received his undergraduate degree from California State University and his J.D. degree from Whittier Law School (1975). He is a past officer and director of the National Organization of Bar Counsel. He is active in the American Bar Association and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, as well as serving as Treasurer to California's Attorney Discipline Defense Counsel.
