Prior to that, I served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. I worked as a prosecutor in West Valley City, Provo, Lehi, and Salt Lake County. I have extensive experience as a courtroom lawyer and litigator, having handled thousands of court hearings and trials, earning the trust and respect of the Utah Defense Bar. Joseph is a criminal defense attorney and retired U.S. Marine Corps officer. He has been defending the Constitution since 1987. After a 27-year career in the Marines, Joseph retired and attended law school at the S. J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. While in law school, Joseph was heavily involved in the college’s clinical program. Joseph interned in criminal law at the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association, providing public defender services in Salt Lake Justice and District Courts. He also interned in immigration law with Holy Cross Ministries Immigration Law division where he assisted victims of crime to gain legal status in the United States. At Collins Rupp, Joseph provides criminal defense, bankruptcy, and family law services throughout Utah. Joseph represents clients in municipal justice courts and state district courts on matters ranging from simple infractions and misdemeanors to first degree felonies. In addition to his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah, Joseph also holds a Master’s Degree in International Studies from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Weber State University.
