Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Under a recent custody case, I represented R.B. who had already been divorced but due to his heavy work schedule, had not visited his child on a regular basis. Though the child had been with his mother, the mother had violated the parent-child relationship through neglect of her child and her own drug abuse. I was able to create temporary orders for R.B. to bring him back into his child's life while R.B. realized that work wasn't as important as parenting. Though he took care of his work duties, he also did the maximum possible to get custody of his child. We had a trial and the court ruled in R.B.'s favor.

How did you build a successful practice?

Constant feedback and diligent work for your clients will allow you to place your client in his or her best possible decision. The requirement of utilizing necessary tools such as Lawyer.com, facebook or twitter will give you the ability to communicate with your clients and potential prospects.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Many of my clients were happy to see or talk to me immediately. While lawyer schedules can busy, an actual face to face meeting or a telephone conference can help guide clients in the right direction.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It's always important to know the local justice system. Additionally, local resources and rules are important in helping your client advance his or her case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

While we can never predict a certain outcome, we can provide the options a client has and the best possible choices. We can sometimes estimate a time a case can take depending on the complexity of the case.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The basic facts of the case will give the attorney a great start as guiding the prospect in the right direction. Usually, the client needs to know what the first step is and then the possible outcomes. It's never a guarantee of a particular result but the goal is place the client in a better position than the current situation thus allowing him or her to move on to a positive aspect.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I was once called an angel but I didn't think I did anything extra-ordinary. Though, to that particular client, I was able to get her out of her problem issue and allow her to move on.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I enjoy camping and hiking. I am generally an outdoors type of person and always ready to jump in my truck with a good pair of boots.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes. I am a currently parent leader for the local Boy Scout Troop and consistently camping out with the scouts and other parent leaders. Watching the scouts grow is a rewarding experience and helping develop their organizational and physical skills. Also, as a member of the local attorney bar association, I am able to give and exchange ideas for a better legal system to our community.
