About Philip

Philip is a graduate of the University of Montana School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Before going to law school, Philip worked an array of jobs, including commercial fishing in Kodiak, Alaska, working for the Bureau of National Affairs in Washington, D.C., training dogs for a competitive dog musher in Fairbanks, Alaska, teaching in Bush Alaska, and working for a Trans-Alaska Pipeline subcontractor. He grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and learned the value of hard work from his parents, his dad a retired brickmason and his mother a teacher’s aide, who continue to raise beef cattle. While attending the University of Montana law school, Philip was a member of the National Moot Court Team, he clerked for United States Magistrate Judge Leif Erickson, and also taught first year law students legal research and legal writing. Following graduation, Philip clerked for Superior Court Judge Dan Hensley in Anchorage, Alaska, and then for Yellowstone County District Court Judge Russell Fagg in Billings, Montana, before joining Edwards, Frickle & Culver in 2005. While with the Edwards Law Firm, Philip handled a wide variety of cases. Cases ranged from automobile accidents, dog bites, products liability, intellectual property litigation, oil and gas litigation, wrongful discharge, criminal law, commercial litigation. He has argued cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Montana Supreme Court. There was no case that Philip wasn’t capable of handling. Philip is licensed to practice law in Montana and Alaska.
