Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

A case involving a burglary of a habitation where my client along with others were charged with entering a residence intending to rob the location. After several hours of video discovery we were able to prove my client did not match the description and the case was dismissed. My client was then able to proceed with his immigration process to obtain status.

How did you build a successful practice?

By telling potential clients the truth about the options available to them and the possibility of obtaining certain results. Never telling someone what they want to hear.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clear honest answers to their questions regarding potential results of a case; no one that will guarantee or promise a result.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is important in order to make sure you have an idea of the common practice of certain courts and prosecutors.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Typically we can give the potential client options available to them based on their facts, can also give them an idea of the fees involved.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Biographical information, geographical information, alleged offense, when it occurred, if the person is detained, and if the person has a forthcoming date for court already set.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Prior professional experience. As former state trooper and a former state prosecutor I take a unique perspective of every case. I take each case and analyze the basis of the arrest utilizing a law enforcement perspective, looking for subjective issues that should not have come into play and raise issues with the arrest and then view it from a prosecutorial perspective and evaluating and finding the weak points of the case that would raise issues with a judge or a jury.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

It is usually meeting with people who have a misconception of the law and clarifying how the process and the law applies to the their situation. This usually gives them a better understanding of what to expect in the process, it gives the client a sense of relief realizing that it is not like what happens on television shows.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Spending time with my family, love to watch College Football and I enjoy walking my basset hound.

Are you involved in your community?

I do serve as a municipal court judge in my community
