About Richard

Since earning his Juris Doctorate in 1970 at the Minnesota Law School, attorney Richard A. Williams Jr. has been dedicated to helping the people of St. Paul, Minnesota and the surrounding cities with employment, disability, discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination law. A Stone Scholar and member of the Law Review during his time at law school, he has pursued a legal career of hard work and determination. After graduation, Mr. Williams served as a judicial clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and as a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association. Mr. Williams has acted as an editor for the Developing Labor Law, a prominent publication for lawyers nationwide. He was a chapter editor from 1998 – 2003, an associate editor from 2004 – 2008, as well as a contributor. He was designated a “Super Lawyer” by the Minnesota Law and Politics publication from 1995 to present, and awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

As the founder of R.A.Williams Law Firm, P.A., established in 1998, Richard Williams strives to offer each client a relaxed, informal consultation with ethical, aggressive representation. With 75 percent of the firm’s practice devoted to litigation, he and his team are effective advocates both in and out of the courtroom. They take pride in their reputation as efficient, cost-effective problem solvers. Their key to success has always been attributed to their unflagging dedication, thoroughness and attention to detail in every case.

Outside of the courtroom, Richard Williams is active in his community serving on the City Council, as Mayor, and as a member of various public boards and commissions. He has been the coach for a state’s champion mock trial team.
