About Robert

Mr. Morris grew up in Tampa, Florida. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree (BA) in political science from Emory University in 1995 where he was a member and president of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He attended the Florida State University College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate (JD) in 1998. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998. He was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1999 and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida in 2002. He has practiced almost exclusively in the area of criminal defense which has included hundreds of matters at the trial level, appellate level and post conviction level. His trial practice has primarily involved very serious criminal charges such as homicide, armed robbery, drug trafficking, conspiracy, identity theft, credit card fraud and sexual battery to name a few. He is experienced in death penalty litigation and complex criminal litigation matters. He has served as a consultant in cases involving intricate motion practice and DNA evidence. He has been invloved in multiple high profile cases.

Mr. Morris' appellate experince is broad. He has been involved in hundreds of appeals in multiple jurisdictions including circuit court, all five of the District Courts of Appeal in Florida, the Florida Supreme Court and the United Stets Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He has presented oral arguments in most of these same jurisdictions. He has prevailed on many issues and received multiple written opinions.

Mr. Morris has regularly lectured on aspects of psychology and the law. He has lectured on the unique art of communication with jurrors during a jury trial. He teaches continuing education classes to other lawyers about the current state of the law surrounding jury selection and the art of jury selection. He is a past president (2009-1010) of the Tallahassee Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association as well as the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He serves as an instructor and coach for the Florida State University College of Law Mock trial Team.

Mr. Morris is active in the community. He spends his free time coaching youth soccer. He handles some sports agency and contractual work by virtue of his love for the game. He enjoys the outdoors. He has a beautiful wife and four beautiful children.
