Justice Robert E. Byrne

Justice Byrne's retirement from the bench in 2008 culminated a 22 year judicial career that spanned from Small Claims court in DuPage County to Presiding Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court 2nd District.

Along the way Justice Byrne founded the Court Annexed Mandatory Arbitration and the Court Friends Program for disabled adults in the 18th Circuit and served as Presiding Judge of the Domestic Relations and Chancery Divisions.

He has always been involved in ADR as an adjunct professor at Chicago Kent Law School, an arbitrator, and active mediator certified by the National Judicial College and as a member of the Executive Board of Resolution Systems Institute (RSI).

Additionally, he served in Probate, Juvenile, Domestic Violence and Mental Health courts and has lectured locally, nationally and in Europe on ADR and Juvenile law.

Robert Byrne was also a trial lawyer for 18 years in DuPage, Cook, McHenry, Lake and Will counties representing insurance companies and injured persons in personal injury, worker's comp and matrimonial matters.
