About Robert

As the senior partner and founder of the firm, Robert J. Glasgow’s practice is concentrated primarily on litigation and trial work. He has been awarded an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, the premier legal directory by which attorneys are ranked by their fellow attorneys and the Judges in whose courts they practice. That rating is the highest rank attainable with Martindale-Hubbell and emphasizes his experience, background, ethics, and years of contribution to the legal profession. This ranking is reflective of why he is sometimes referred to among his peers as the “Lawyer’s Lawyer.”

A brief history of his adult life begins with his discharge from the U.S. Army when he enrolled in Tarleton State University, serving as Student Body President. After graduation from Tarleton, he attended and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law and later became administrative assistant to Governor Preston Smith.

He left Austin in 1970 and opened a private law practice with his cousin and fellow attorney, Donald R. Jones, who served as the District Judge of the 266th Judicial District Court of Erath County, Texas. He continued in practice for two years and later was elected District Attorney for the 29th Judicial District, which at that time comprised the counties of Erath, Palo Pinto and Hood. He served in this capacity for eight years and then was elected to serve as a State Senator to represent the 22nd Senatorial District where he served for the next twelve years. During his tenure as a State Senator, he served on many powerful and influential committees, having been appointed as Chairman of The Rules Committee, the Jurisprudence Committee and the State Affairs Committee. He also served as President Pro Tem of the Senate, serving on many occasions as Governor of Texas and was honored in 1991 as Governor for a Day at a statewide ceremony at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas.
