AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

Personal Injury/Insurance Defense

Roy devotes a significant portion of his practice to defending clients who have been sued in cases involving claims for personal injury and wrongful death. In addition, he represents a large-sized insurance company and its insureds. He spends approximately half of his practice defending clients in all aspects of automobile accident lawsuits including claims investigation, pretrial discovery, and trial representation.

Employment Litigation

Roy is experienced in resolving private and public employment disputes, principally through representation of employers. In addition to handling his own cases, Roy assists senior litigation attorneys in all aspects of their representation of the firm's clients in matters arising out of the employment relationship.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Roy engaged in private law practice in Lubbock, Texas where he successfully represented clients in various matters, such as Breach of Contract, Real Estate Litigation, commercial contract negotiations, probate litigation, employment disputes, and administrative appeals before both state and local governmental agencies. Prior to attending law school, Roy was a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in the state of Texas where he worked in the nuclear and fossil fuel power industry and in the heavy manufacturing/mining industry.

While in law school, Roy was elected to membership in Phi Delta Phi-honors law fraternity, where he served as the Alumni Contact Chairman for the Academic Year of 2002-03. As an undergraduate, Roy was elected to membership in Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma - engineering honors fraternities, and was named the Outstanding Senior Engineering Student for the Texas Tech University College of Engineering in 1986.
