About Scott

I have dedicated most of my 28-year career to aggressively fighting for clients when they are threatened with jail and other criminal penalties. I began my career as a prosecutor in 1987. I became a private attorney in 1991 and have been a managing partner or solo practitioner since 1992. I have seen every sort of issue, ranging from traffic tickets to DUI to drug trafficking and murder. I also represent people who have been notified that they are under investigation for any reason. I worked as a prosecutor and have handled more than 125 jury trials over the years. Let my knowledge of the system work for you.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I effectively represented a licensed practicing attorney in a bar/criminal investigation, and through great efforts and strategy avoided criminal prosecution.

How did you build a successful practice?

Success in this arena is earned, not bought with advertising. You have to be accessible, talk with the clients not at them, and fight hard for them. After years of doing this, word of mouth referrals is the best source of business.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Client should look for integrity, and understanding, compassion and the will to fight for their case.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is extremely important. Knowing how the State Attorney's Office operates, how different judges handle different matters brings the best results for the client.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

As much or as little can be given in a phone conference until the client feels the need and comfort to come in and meet face to face.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Name, DOB and county of an arrest. Let me cut right to the chase. I can check the person in the system and have a good starting point.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

My community involvement extends to being on the Board of Directors of Lawyers to the Rescue, a 503(c) non profit that helps disaster victims by doing fundraisers and we help the homeless with a monthly free pro bono legal clinic at the Camillus House homeless shelter. I run the clinic and volunteer handling cases.
