In certain circumstances, we may determine that your legal needs would be better served by referring your case to one of our co-counsel law firms. This would only be done after consultation with you. Of course, we would only refer your case if we are completely confident that such referral is absolutely in your best interest. The co-counsel referral would be done without you incurring any additional attorney fees or costs. Finally, we never represent insurance companies; only individuals like you. Therefore, we don't hold back when going after an insurance company for fear of them cutting off their business from us.

An avid traveler and former NCAA football scholarship athlete, Shawn Hairston came to Miami to launch his legal career and experience everything the city had to offer—from its dynamic legal scene to its legendary beach clubs. As a former defense attorney, he brings firsthand knowledge from working at the very firms he now has a passion for defeating. In addition to leading the firm’s Miami practice, Shawn manages the Washington, D.C. office, leveraging his experience on Capitol Hill to navigate complex legal and policy issues. Dondi R. Vesprini earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1996 from Oakland University with a minor in Sociology. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1999 from the University of Detroit – Mercy School of Law where he was on the Moot Court Board of Directors, represented the law school in national moot court competition, and was a member of the St. Thomas More Society. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Michigan, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to joining Buckfire & Buckfire, Dondi worked for 11 years as a trial attorney for the Law Offices of Lawrence S. Katkowsky, P.C., which specialized in motorcycle accidents. Previously, Dondi worked for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for two years where he tried felony drug cases and also worked on criminal appeals. Dondi has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his injured clients and specializes in issues affecting motorcyclists such as motorcycle accidents, roadway defect accidents, and Michigan No Fault claims. He also litigates wrongful death, automobile negligence, slip and fall, dog bite attacks, and other personal injury matters. In addition to trial work, he has also argued cases in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dondi’s advocacy extends beyond the courtroom as he proposes legislation and meets with the Governor’s office, legislators and lobbyists regarding legislation affecting injured motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists alike, including but not limited to the Michigan motorcycle helmet law and fighting to preserve Michigan’s No Fault system and the benefits it provides to injured people. He recently drafted an amendment to MCL 500.3114, which was formally introduced as House Bill 4809 on May 6, 2021.

Originally from Bedford County, Matthew joined the law firm in 2018 as a full-time associate, following his graduation from the Liberty University School of Law. Matthew has a significant amount of experience as a trusted Personal Injury attorney. Prior to law school, Matthew worked as a defense litigation paralegal from 2011-2015, specializing in Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice. During this time, Matthew was elected as Vice President for the Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association for two subsequent annual terms before applying to law school. In addition, Matthew dedicated his personal time to serving the community as a Big Brother for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America; tutoring at a local youth center; serving as a member of the Roanoke Kiwanis Club; and working as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for the Roanoke CASA program. While in law school, Matthew was an active member of Liberty University School of Law’s Trial Team, placing 2nd and 3rd, respectively, at the regional and national trial team competitions for the American Bar Association in 2017. Matthew also furthered his experience by interning at multiple law firms representing Plaintiffs in personal injury cases, First Amendment retaliation cases, and Worker’s Compensation cases. Matthew is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (VTLA), the Virginia Bar Association, Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Matthew is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Matthew is also admitted to practice before all state courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States Federal Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Virginia.

Shawn Howard earned his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of North Carolina, graduating with honors. He represents North Carolinians throughout the state who have been seriously injured due to another person’s negligence or intentional wrongdoing. Shawn was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star from 2016-2020. For the past two years, he has been rated as a Super Lawyer. He is a member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, organizations with membership restricted to those attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar settlements or verdicts for their clients. Shawn lives in Raleigh with his wife Samantha, son Evan, and daughter Quinn.
