About Seth
Seth H. Salinger, a solo practitioner in Newton, Massachusetts, has been practicing law since 1989. His focal practice areas include business litigation, trademark law, intellectual property, contracts, construction law, and business and commercial law.
He was an associate at the Boston firm of Looney and Grossman from 1989 to 1996. In 1996, he formed his solo practice. From 1999 to 2002, he was a panel attorney of Suffolk Lawyers for Justice, the Massachusetts public criminal defenders program for Suffolk County. For several years, he has been a panel attorney for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.
Since October 2001, Mr. Salinger has been "of counsel" to the full-service law firm of Cumsky & Levin in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Salinger practices in the areas of business litigation, intellectual property, entertainment law, construction law, consumer law, personal injury, and general tort law. Mr. Salinger has extensive experience in all phases of civil litigation, has tried cases in various state and federal courts, and has represented clients before a variety of administrative agencies.
His long list of satisfied clients have included business owners, writers, real estate developers, musicians, contractors, retailers, artists, photographers, entrepreneurs, and individuals with a great variety of legal interests and needs.
Mr. Salinger was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, on March 27, 1959. He has lived in Southeast Asia and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He is a 1985 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Boston (BA, English, magna cum laude) where he won the Bunselmeyer Prize for Distinction in Language and Literature.
Mr. Salinger received his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1989 and, as part of his legal training, interned at the law firms of Miller, Cassidy, Larocca, and Lewin in Washington, D.C., Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak, and Cohen in Boston, and Peckham, Casey, Lobel, and Tye in Boston. He is admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Attorney Seth Salinger is co-author of "Does a Sincerely-Held Religious Belief Confer a Right to Discriminate?" Boston Bar Journal, 1996. Mr. Salinger is married to Sharon S. Salinger, a novelist and editor at the Massachusetts Medical Society, which publishes the New England Journal of Medicine. They have two children.
