About Shannon
Attorney Bios:
Shannon C. Smith, Esq.
Shannon is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Kentucky Bar Association (KBA), the KBA Probate and Trust Law Division, the Young Lawyer’s Division, the KBA Elder Law Division, the Covington Business Council, and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. She is licensed to practice in the state of Kentucky, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She graduated from Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Shannon finished law school on the Dean’s List and in her final two years competed for Chase Law’s Arbitration team. Her areas of practice are Business Law and Estate Planning.
Throughout law school, Shannon worked in various Probate courts for Assets International and for Citi in the area of mortgage foreclosures and ending her tenure with Citi's digital servicing department. While at Citi, she assisted hundreds of customers pursue foreclosure alternatives such as modifications or repayment plans. Her role also included helping customers pursue other options such as short sales or a deed-in-lieu. Her work earned her numerous accolades, both for the quality of service she provided and for the manner in which she provided it. Most notably, Shannon oversaw the operations and strategy for Citibank's North American Branded cards social media team. She successfully led her digital servicing teams through the largest transition in the history of the financial industry onboarding 11 million customers transitioning from American Express. She ended her career in the corporate world as the top manager in Citibank's North American Customer Service team.
Currently and throughout her time at Chase, Shannon coached various girls teams throughout the Northern Kentucky community and competed for Louisville Soccer Club’s women’s team. Prior to attending Chase, she graduated summa cum laude from Morehead State University with a double major in Paralegal Studies and Spanish and a minor in Criminology. During her tenure, she also captained and competed for their Division I Women’s soccer team.
While at Morehead, the Kentucky Society of Washington selected Shannon as their Henry Clay Intern. As a Henry Clay Intern, she worked in Washington D.C. for Senator Jim Bunning in the United States Senate. She also worked the year prior in the Canadian Parliament for Cheryl Gallant. While at each location, Shannon continued to play soccer. Specifically, while in D.C., she played for the Maryland Pride. She finished her undergraduate education abroad in Segovia, Spain. There she completed her Spanish major and played professional soccer.
Shannon has always been committed to excellence in the classroom, soccer field, and workplace – and she now applies that same commitment to her law practice. Most recently, she pursued the Estate and Trust Specialist Designation (CES). Well over a million people, attorneys included, provide estate planning advice; less than 1% of them have earned the CES designation. Shannon is now a member of the 1%. She pursued this designation because she is committed to excellence: excellent legal service and excellent customer service. The slogan of the law offices truly reflects her approach to her practice, “Client Focused. Results Driven.”
