About Eliot
Eliot graduated from the Harvard Law School in 1980. After working as an associate in large Houston and Dallas law firms for five years, he joined the Texas Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division. He served as the president of the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas and as a board member of the national ACLU. He also served as a board member of the Housing Crisis Center and a council member and chair of the Consumer and Commercial Law and Individual Rights and Responsibilities sections of the State Bar of Texas. Eliot is currently a member of the Texas Employment Lawyers Association. In addition to maintaining an active law practice and teaching career, Eliot occasionally serves as an expert witness regarding attorneys’ fees.
Eliot has been recognized by Thomson Reuters on the list of Texas Super Lawyers and has achieved a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating.
For over forty years, Eliot has represented consumers and investors who have been deceived by businesses, tenants who have been wrongfully evicted by landlords, employees who have been terminated or harassed because of their race, sex, age, religion, or disability, and individuals whose civil rights have been violated by governmental and private actors. And, for over twenty years, Eliot has been a professor and supervising attorney in the SMU Civil Clinic, teaching, supervising, and mentoring law school students and graduates to do well by doing good.
