About Sheila

Sheila concentrates on family law, criminal law, commercial litigation, and transactional law. Prior to joining Franks, Gerkin, & McKenna, Sheila worked at the Zeke Giorgi Legal Clinic in Rockford, the Boone County Office of the Public Defender in Belvidere, and the Office of the State Appellate Defender in Elgin, where she gained extensive courtroom experience in a variety of proceedings.

Sheila graduated cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law. She received her bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Public Communication from American University in Washington, D.C.

During law school, Sheila actively represented NIU in a variety of competitions. She competed and achieved top, winning scores in a variety of competitions, including: the 2008 National Trial Competition, the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association 2007 Moot Court Competition, the 25th Annual NIU College of Law Moot Court Competition, and the NIU College of Law Mock Trial Competition. She was also a member of the ABA Student Law Division where she served as the Lieutenant Governor of Membership for the 7th Circuit. Additionally, she served as the Treasurer of the Women's Law Caucus and an Associate Justice for the Moot Court Society.

Sheila is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the McHenry County Bar Association.
