Abel has advised companies in the sale of all or a portion of their assets, including within the context of a business bankruptcy case. In re: J & P Enterprises of the Carolinas, Inc., (Bankruptcy Court, Western District of North Carolina, 06-30306) - Represented the Debtor in obtaining a confirmed Chapter 11 small business plan of reorganization for a manufacturer.
In re: Plej's Linen Supermarket SoEast Stores, LLC, et al. (Bankruptcy Court, Western District of North Carolina, 05-35484) - Represented Debtors in the Chapter 11 liquidation of a regional retailer of linens and home accessories
In re: J.A. Jones, Inc., et al., (Bankruptcy Court, Western District of North Carolina, 03-33532) - Served as local counsel to the Creditors Committee, prosecuting adversary proceedings against recipients of preferential transfers and analyzing proofs of claim filed by unsecured creditors and objecting to claims as appropriate
