About Smith
Smith B. Gephart has extensive experience in criminal law, both in state and federal court, as well as broad experience in all aspects of wills and estates.
Bart Gephart is frequently referred to as one of the deans of the criminal defense bar, with over forty years of experience in federal and state criminal litigation. Bart has had substantial experience in representing individuals targeted for potential prosecution by the U.S. Department of Justice, United States Attorneys' Offices, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Postal Inspector, the Internal Revenue Service, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Office of Inspector General for the Departments of Defense and Transportation, OSHA, and several States' Attorneys General.
Through his decades of experience, Bart is well-respected and widely connected in the legal and law enforcement communities. The majority of his calls are referrals from other lawyers, who recommend their clients speak to him about a critical aspect of a case, including sentencing considerations. He frequently counsels attorneys who are concerned about personal or client-related ethical issues. Bart most recently served as Chair of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
