About Stephen

Stephen G. Walko is a third-generation resident of Greenwich, Connecticut. He graduated from Trinity University with a B.A. in Business Administration and Political Science and received his J.D. in 1997 from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was a member of the American Bankruptcy Law Review. Upon graduation, he began his legal career in New York practicing in the area of labor and employment law litigation. He joined Ivey, Barnum and O’Mara in 2004.

Mr. Walko is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut and New York as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the New York Appellate Division, Second Department. He is also past President of the Greenwich Bar Association and a member of the Fairfield County and Connecticut Bar Associations. Mr. Walko serves as counsel to Indian Harbor Yacht Club and Belle Haven Land Company.

Mr. Walko is a skilled trial attorney whose fair and practical approach leads to positive results for his clients in all types of civil and commercial litigation, including personal injury (motor vehicle accidents and construction accidents) and wrongful death matters, as well as real estate transactions and employment law. In 2008, Governor Rell appointed Mr. Walko to serve as a Public Member of the State Board of Mediation and Arbitration. Mr. Walko previously served on the Connecticut Neutral Arbitrators’ Panel, and currently serves as an Arbitrator on matters in New York. His work as an arbitrator has provided him with keen insight into the legal arguments made by his adversaries in litigation matters, thereby furthering his ability to achieve successful results for his clients.

Mr. Walko is extremely active in charitable and governmental affairs in the state of Connecticut and the Town of Greenwich. In 2012, Mr. Walko was elected to the Connecticut State Legislature as a State Representative for the 150th District (Greenwich’s Shoreline). From 2008 - 2011, he served as Chairman of the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation. He has also served as Chairman of the Representative Town Meeting, Budget Overview Committee and Chairman of the Republican Town Committee. Recently, Mr. Walko was the Chair of the Committee responsible for building a new elementary school in Greenwich, and currently serves as Chair of the Greenwich High School Security Vestibule Building Committee.
