About Stephen
Stephen J. Kecskes was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and raised in Miami, Florida, where he graduated from high school in 1972. After attending one year of college at Miami-Dade Community College, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked as a legal specialist in the JAG Office. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1977, Steve enrolled in and graduated from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, with a B.A. in Political Science.
Shortly after graduation in 1978, Steve worked as a paralegal in the Law Department of Burger King Corporation at its international headquarters in Miami, Florida, and enrolled in the M.B.A. program at Florida International University.
Two years later, Steve enrolled in Law School at the University of Toledo, where he served as the Lead Articles Editor on the law review. During law school, Steve worked full-time as a judicial law clerk for Judge Gale Williamson in the Wood County Common Pleas Court in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Steve graduated from law school in 1984 and relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, where he worked for one year as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. After his clerkship ended, Steve entered into the private practice of law in Virginia Beach, Virginia. For over 20 years, Steve has engaged in the general practice of law, with particular emphasis in the area of family law.
