About Stephen
Mr. Weiss has a business degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Yale Law School. Unlike most of his classmates, he declined opportunities to work in big law firms where he would have spent his legal career representing big corporations. Rather, he has found it more challenging, and more satisfying, to assist injured individuals in dealing with problems caused by their employers' workers compensation insurance carriers.
Mr. Weiss became one of the state's first State Bar certified workers' compensation specialists in 1979. He has been included in the Workers' Compensation section of Best Lawyers in America for ten years. He has an "AV" rating, the highest available, from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
His professional activities have included serving on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association. He has served as a hearing officer for the Arizona Supreme Court in matters involving alleged ethical violations by members of the State Bar. He was recently appointed to serve as a judge pro tem by the presiding judge of the Superior Court of Maricopa County.
His wife, Randy, is a certified independent social worker (psychotherapist/ counselor). They have a mellow golden retriever, Casey, and two active felines named Hannah and Wrigley.
