About Sundee
Sundee G. Stephenson received her undergraduate degree is psychology from N.C. State University in 1992 and her undergraduate degree in social work in 1993. After graduation, Sundee worked as a social worker for five years. While working at Dorothea Dix Hospital in their pre-trial unit, Sundee decided to pursue a career as an attorney. She graduated from The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 2001.
After graduating from Campbell University and receiving her Doctor of Jurisprudence, Sundee moved to Carteret County and began practicing law as an associate in a local general practice law firm. For approximately four years, from 2002-2006, Sundee was the contract attorney for Carteret County Department of Social Services and spent a great deal of her time representing them in juvenile court handling abuse, neglect and dependency matters and termination of parental rights matters. She also represented the Department of Social Services in adult protective services litigation.
In 2005, Sundee started her own law firm and, instead of a general practice, opted to focus on family law and domestic matters. Family law encompasses prenuptial agreements, post nuptial agreements, separation, divorce, equitable distribution (property distribution), post separation support and alimony, child custody and visitation, child support, juvenile matters, termination of parental rights matters, and in some cases elder care when it involves adult protective services matters.
From 2002-2003, Ms. Sundee G. Stephenson served as the secretary and treasurer for the Carteret County Bar Association. From 2003-2004, served as vice president and from 2004-2006, served as president of the Carteret County Bar Association. She is presently very active with the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice; a member of the North Carolina State Bar Association Family Law Section; and a member of the American Bar Association.
Ms. Stephenson knows the importance of having a close and happy family. Bradley Schulz, Sundee and her sons reside in the Down East Community of Straits. Her sons, Trey and Blake, play football, basketball, and baseball through their school and the local parks and recreation department. Sundee's sister, April, and her boyfriend, Nathan, reside next door to the family in Straits. April and Blake regularly harvest honey from April's honey bees and collect fresh eggs from the family's many chickens. Bradley, Nathan and Trey are avid hunters and the family has a black lab, Gates, who is a master hunter. Family and family law matters are very important to Sundee Stephenson.
Sundee G. Stephenson's goal for each client is to help them find closure and/or a positive resolution in their domestic matters and to enable them to live happy and healthy lives with their family members.
